Hello,

Latest EXIM 4.92 fixes a bad bug about DKIM signature (among others).
How can we update to that latest version of EXIM ?

Thank you very much,

T.

cPanel supplies EXIM as a part of its software bundle.

The last update I can find is for ....
Update exim to release 4.91-4.cp1178.
.... as part of the 77.9999.122 development release on the 26th December 2018.

This development release is included in the 78.0.7 that is currently available in the EDGE and STABLE Tiers.

It is possible that cPanel will add the EXIM 4.92 version before the version 78 reaches the RELEASE Tier, but I don't think that updating EXIM yourself would be supported by cPanel, and you might actually catastrophically break it o_O

It is really a matter of being patient and waiting for cPanel to include and release the updates as part of the normal update and upgrade cycle.

You may be able to accelerate the deployment by submitting bug reports (if you can justify and demonstarte them) and/or feature requests and/or making a fuss on the forums :-D

Hope this helps

Ok. But the bug has been reported to EXIM, analyzed, and fixed in v4.92... It's here. Should we report to CPanel every bug we find in **other products** than CPanel to accelerate the deployment ? This is non sense...
I hope that @cPanelMichael will see that request... It's really a big problem in Exim to have that kind of bug because it affects millions of emails...

I don't know why I bother ......... :(

Do you really think that cPanel are not aware of what is happening with EXIM ? Or are you the only person in the world that can read their bug reports ?

Hello @trucmuche,

The specific Exim case (2284) you referenced was manually patched in the Exim RPM we provide in cPanel & WHM version 78 on 12-26-2018:

Code:
# rpm -q --changelog exim-4.91-4.cp1178.x86_64
- Applied patch from upstream for bug 2284
Additionally, internal case CPANEL-25561 is open to update the Exim RPM that's provided with cPanel & WHM to version 4.92. It's currently slated for inclusion with cPanel & WHM version 78 (this version is tentatively planned for publication to the RELEASE tier next week). I'll monitor the case and update this thread once it's published.

Note that since version 76 is not a long-term support release, it becomes end-of-life the moment version 78 reaches the STABLE release tier. Thus, the closer version 78 gets to the STABLE tier, the more likely it is that changes/fixes are included in version 78 as opposed to version 76.

Update: The Exim update was published with cPanel & WHM version 80:

  • Fixed case CPANEL-25561: New upstream release exim-4.92.

Thank you.

Sorry I don't understand what your point is. But as I imagine that your message is not a really sympathetic message, I think it's not really a problem. I don't have time to waste with useless conflicts.

@cPanelMichael : thank you for your useful answer. I'm happy to see that the bug has been patched in v78. Indeed, I use now the actual STABLE/RELEASE version (76.0.20) and as soon as the v78 will be published to the RELEASE tier, I will update it. Thanks !
