Hello Forum;

Question: How do I replace the IP in the cPanel WHM URL with the host domain name?

At the present I am setting up a new cPanel account.

I am using the host domain name for the nameservers like below:
ns1.mysecurename.com
ns2.mysecurename.com
ns3.mysecurename.com
ns4.mysecurename.com

I need to replace the IP address in the URL with another domain name, preferably mysecurename.com, like shown below.

At the present I do not have any secure sites configured on my server.

Thank you in advance.

Hey there! You could use the hostname of the server, which should already be configured when the server was created, although you may want to change it to something more personal to your system:

Once the hostname is in place, cPanel will create a free SSL certificate for it, and then you can start using it to access WHM and cPanel instead of using the IP address.

I have a few thoughts.

First of all a single domain is not the hostname. cPanel requires the hostname to be a fully-qualified domain, such as host.domain.com or server1.domain.com. Just "domain.com" is not a valid hostname.

Yes, it is normal for the domain (just the domain.com portion, not the full hostname) to be in Manage SSL Hosts.

What issue is leading you to see the IP instead of the hostname in the browser? How are you getting to that point? I think that's what we need to know first before we can recommend anything.
