Incoming email is not being delivered because it is using the wrong (old) IP address - how to change it

Hi,

I tried to move to a VPS from a Dedicated server a week or so ago. It turned out is wasn't compatible for hosting my sites as the was a max limit on storage and no way of upgrading once 800GB was reached.

So I cancelled the VPS but its totaly messed up the emailing. I have managed to get the outgoing mail working again but the incoming mail doesn't work.

When I used the Email troubleshooter in WHM Cpanel, it shows the VPS IP address. I have no idea where I change this back to the dedicated IP (it is an unmanaged dedicated server so support wont help me). I am looking to move to a managed one in the next month or so.

Can anyone advise how I reset the IP so it is no longer using the other server which no longer exists now?

Any help would be appreciated

Let's say you have domain yourdomain.com in your server, and there is an email address name like [email protected].
When email is sent to that address, the sending server is checking the MX record of domain yourdomain.com. So MX record tells address of the destination server.

Hi,

attached is a scfreenshot of the mail troubleshooter for one of our emails. The mx is pointing to the wrong IP. If I look under DNS email routing configuration it has the correct domain name in the lowest priority.
