I'm testing cPanel nodes (i created: parent host - for www, mail node - for e-mails, db profile - for mysql)

My questions are:

1. Dedicated IP:
If I change IP of account for dedicated, it changes only for parent serwer (www). Is it possible to change e-mail for dedicated for e-mail? Now it is block:
"User Editing Locked: You cannot edit this account on the child node. You must edit the account “nowyserwer” on the parent node."

Dedicated IP for e-mail is very important for rise e-mails delivery.
How to change outgoing IP for some accounts?

=======

2. Migrate accounts beetwen servers and MX

Default MX entry on parent node is: hostname-of-mailnode
and mail.domain CNAME record is created pointing to MX

In autoconfiguration for Outlook/Thuunderbird there is set MX name: hostname-of-mailnode
When users will have set hostname-of-mailnode when his account will be transfer from one server to other they will need to change his smtp/imap address.

Is any possibility, to have mail.domain entry as a default smtp/imap server in autoconfigurator ?

=======

3. Profiles in DB

When creating database in cpanel, there is an information about database host as: hostname-of-database-server

Is any possibility to have global name i.e.: mysql.domain which on every hosting server will be pointing to IP of the database server set in db-profile.

It will be easy to migrate accounts between servers - database will always have permanent address (mysql.domain) - it will be something like "localhost" - what is always permanent.

Do you have any ideas about this?

Hey there!

Question 1 - not at this time. All changes have to be done on the parent machine.

Question 2 - Maybe! This would be a good feature request if you'd like to submit one using the link in my signature.

Question 3 - I'm not sure if the database system would support such a name. That could also make a good feature request though, and then our database team can review that.

I'm sorry I don't have more specifics on most of these, but we're still working through the specifics of the node system at this point.

Thank you,

Question 1 - lack of dedicated IP for outgoing e-mail is the main reason that we decided that our tests failed for now. I'm in touch with support on ticket, and only possibility t set dedicated IP for e-mailsis for now: editing /etc/mailips - but it is full manual and works for single domain only, not for whole account (for all domains of the user) :-(

Question 2 - Maybe! This would be a good feature request if you'd like to submit one using the link in my signature.

We made tests: It works for now - when SSL certificates is set, the MX is set as "domain.com" (not "mail.domain.com"). But on parent there is a routing proxy for email so the e-mail goes to main-node. So it works great already!

For #3 you could add the resource record in the DNS template in WHM and then mysql.<domain> could be set to point to db node IP on domain addition
