Why does a cpanel user login to dovecot and exim every 5 minutes?

What is the purpose of this and if it is absolutely necessary, can i remove this from the logs?

Hello,

The service monitoring system chkservd performs the logins every 5 minutes. We have some documentation regarding this here:


Essentially it logs in periodically to make sure that Exim and Dovecot are working successfully.

You can disable the monitoring via the WHM » Service Manager interface, but I would strongly recommend against it. If Exim or Dovecot ever fail, chkservd will automatically start them back up when it cannot log in. However, if you disable the monitoring, it will remain down until you fix it yourself.

There is no way to remove it from the logs. I would suggest ignoring it.
