Wish to retain more backups on /backup, and fewer on AWS S3

We wish to keep main backups local on /backup, and two most recent daily backups on remote S3 compatible location. How can I configure this?

The retention numbers seem to be for the remote backup location, and then we can keep or remove the local files, and that isn't what were trying to do.

Please advise.

Hi!
Correct, the backup retention is configured for the whole backup job.
If you want to achieve what you describe, you'd have to use for example JetBackup where you can build more complex backup configurations.

Hey there! There currently isn't a way to split up the retention between the local and remote. I know there is an older feature request for this in our system, but it is not something we're likely to add to the product at this point.

I'd also recommend JetBackup if you'd like a much larger amount of options for the backup processes on the machine.

Sorry, but I have to tell you that these kinds of responses are really frustrating. I have been a cPanel customer for more than 13 years, and the improvements that have been requested to the backup system come from long before "jetbackup". These are things that have been requested even from the old backup system (legacy), and although very specific requests have been made, you (cPanel) seem not to want to take them into account.

I heard back from the backup team developers and this feature is something that is on their radar, but that work is not currently scheduled. If they do decide to move forward with getting that added to the system I'll be sure to post an update.

Hey, @cPRex Are Could you ask the Team if the price increases that have occurred since 2021 are enough for them to take these requests into account?, please
